How it works

  • A student taps an NFC card on the reader: an ESP32 microcontroller wired to a PN532 NFC module.
  • The ESP32 sends the card's ID to the backend API.
  • The API logs the attendance in the database.
  • The web and mobile app shows who's checked in.

Where it stands

The prototype works end to end: tap a card, and the attendance shows up as logged.

Next up:

  • Phone taps. The app targets Android, and phone tapping still needs testing on an NFC-capable Android device.
  • More use cases beyond attendance, using the same tap-to-action pipeline.
